Katowicki oddział Polskiego Towarzystwa Fizycznego zaprasza do ponownych odwiedzin miasta, aby po 18 latach znów uczestniczyć w Zjeździe Fizyków Polskich w Katowicach. Konferencja odbędzie się w dniach od piątku 5 września do czwartku 11 września 2025 włącznie, przy czym pierwszy dzień przeznaczony jest na przyjazdy i rejestrację.
Chociaż centrum Zjazdu stanowi dawna siedziba Instytutu Fizyki im. Augusta Chełkowskiego Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach, zaplanowano również sesje wyjazdowe w Filharmonii Śląskiej oraz Planetarium - Śląskim Parku Nauki.
Poranna uroczysta sesja 6 września odbędzie się w Filharmonii Śląskiej z udziałem gościa honorowego - laureatki Nagrody Nobla w 2023 roku, prof. Anne l'Huillier. Sesja będzie połączona z wręczeniem Medalu im. M. Smoluchowskiego. W takim miejscu nie zabraknie również muzycznych przeżyć, w których będziemy odkrywać pogranicze symetrii fizyki, sztuki kompozytorskiej i wykonawczej.
Pozostałe sesje weekendowe przygotowano z myślą o dydaktyce, popularyzacji fizyki, młodych naukowcach i największych ośrodkach naukowych. Mając na uwadze odbywanie się konferencji w czasie roku szkolnego, jest to najbardziej dogodny termin, by nauczyciele szkolni mogli wymienić doświadczenia z nauczycielami akademickimi.
Zaplanowano również dwie sesje w Planetarium - Śląskim Parku Nauki w Parku Śląskim w Chorzowie. Jedynie 4 km w linii prostej od miejsca konferencji znajduje się instytucja popularyzująca osiągnięcia m.in. astronomii, astrofizyki, geofizyki, optyki, fizyki cząstek elementarnych.
Planetarium zostało w ostatnich latach gruntownie wyremontowane, rozbudowane i zmodernizowane, aby podołać nowym zadaniom. Dzięki hybrydowemy systemowi projekcji ciał niebieskich GOTO Chiron III oraz odpowiednio zaprojektowanemu ekranowi nawet najmniejsze gwiazdy widoczne nieuzbrojonym okiem mają naturalny wygląd, nie znikają z ekranu, a akustyka jest dopracowana, wytłumiając zbędny pogłos. Wystawy wyposażone są w symulator trzęsień ziemi, generator wyładowań, generator tornada, pokoje w których można przeżyć 4 różne klimaty w krótkim następstwie czasowym, symulatory lotów kosmicznych, trójwymiarową projekcję przelotu między gwiazdami, wieżę widokową z camera obscura i wiele innych atrakcji.
Zjazd Fizyków Polskich jest największą cykliczną konferencją fizyczną organizowaną co 2 lata w różnych ośrodkach akademickich na terenie kraju, przyczyniającą się do rozwoju technologicznego poprzez wykorzystanie i tworzenie podstaw najnowszych technologii. Ostatnia edycja (48. ZFP 2023 w Gdańsku) zgromadziła niemal 460 uczestników, w tym prawie 100 nauczycieli oraz około 80 doktorantów, studentów i uczniów.
49. Zjazd Fizyków Polskich odbywa się w 102. rocznicę pierwszego Zjazdu, zorganizowanego w Warszawie w kwietniu 1923 roku, w trzy lata po Zjeździe Założycielskim PTF. Tradycja organizacji wydarzenia, w którym wszyscy fizycy związani swoją pracą z Polską jest podtrzymywana do dziś i jedynie wydarzenia II Wojny Światowej i okupacja Polski uniemożliwiły podtrzymanie tej platformy wymiany informacji i motoru rozwoju krajowych ośrodków fizycznych.
Konferencja stanowi przegląd najważniejszych badań związanych z polskimi ośrodkami. Sesje wykładowe pozwalają na prezentację osiągnięć z różnych gałęzi fizyki, odwzorowanych w podziale na panele tematyczne, a także nauk pokrewnych, technologii używanej w eksperymentach i rozwijaniu teorii, a także zagadnień edukacji i finansowania badań. Równolegle prowadzone będą sesje studenckie i prezentacje kół naukowych, a także prezentacje sponsorów wydarzenia. Tradycyjnie odbędzie się również sesja plakatowa. Przewidziana jest również sesja, pozwalająca na nawiązanie współpracy pomiędzy studentami a przyszłymi pracodawcami.
Wymieniwszy doświadczenia naukowe wspólnie spędzimy czas na zacieśnianiu znajomości i odrobinie rozrywki.

The Katowice branch of the Polish Physical Society invites you to revisit the city. The 49th in the series Congress of Polish Physicists is a special occasion for you to come to the region of Upper Silesia. The conference will be held from Friday, 5th September, to Thursday, 11th September 2025.
Although the centre of the event is the former site of the August Chełkowski Institute of Physics, some external sessions are also planned, one of which will be placed in the concert hall of the Silesian Philharmonic and two others in the Planetarium - Silesian Science Park.
The opening ceremony in the Silesian Philharmonic building on the morning of 6th September is rich in special events. First of all, we will welcome our dear guest, prof. Anne l'Huillier, who will hold an opening lecture. Following this, the laureate of the M. Smoluchowski medal will be officially honoured. In addition, the Phliharmony Orchester and a theremin soloist will perform for you to draw your inspiration for future discoveries from music. You will be brought to a wonderland beyond the limits of physical symmetries, the art of composing, and musical performance.
Other sessions planned for the weekend revolve around physics teaching, the coverage of physical topics in mass media, the propagation of research results in popular form, the achievements of young scientists and the biggest physics centres in the world. The field of attention of the weekend sessions was chosen primarily to enable physics teachers to attend the conference despite their teaching duties at the beginning of the school year.
Two other sessions during the week are planned to take place in the Planetarium - Silesian Science Park in Chorzów, just 4 km straightway from the conference venue. The institution has successfully popularised scientific achievements in many fields, including astronomy, astrophysics, geophysics, optics, and subatomic physics. Recently, the Planetarium has been thoroughly rebuilt and enlarged. Thanks to the hybrid projector system GOTO Chiron III, the celestial objects appear sharp and flawless, though in a very natural way, which leaves an impression as if you were gazing at the real night sky and not just an artificial one. The acoustic properties of the projection hall are marvellous thanks to the unique construction of the aluminium screen, which reduces the reverb significantly. The expositions include an earthquake simulator reconstructing properties of historical seismological events, in which the shaking platform arranged as a small room with armchairs, a table, and a TV receiver makes you feel the tremors firsthand. The other devices presented there include the lightning generator, tornado and precipitation generator, four rooms where you can physically experience different climate conditions (cold-wet, cold-dry, hot-dry and hot-wet) one after another, 3D experience of flying in the gentle space of star fields, a watch tower with a camera obscura, five individual space flight simulators and many others.
The Congress of Polish Physicists is the most significant conference cycle on physics, held biannually in different academic centres in Poland. It contributes to technological development by creating baselines for future applications and discoveries. The last edition of the conference (48th Congress of Polish Physicists 2023 in Gdańsk) convented almost 460 participants, including nearly 100 school teachers and 80 graduate, undergraduate and high-school students.
The 49th Congress of Polish Physicists takes place 102 years after the first edition, which took place in Warsaw in April 1923, just 3 years after the founding congress of the Polish Physical Society (PPS). Organising the biannual gathering of physicists whose work has some ties to Poland has become a tradition. Only the devastating WWII events prevented the PPS from organising the congress.
A wide range of topics during the plenary and three concurrent parallel sessions will cover all main fields of interest in contemporary physics. Some sessions are intended to expand the coverage into related disciplines, the technology used for experiments and theory development, education and research financing. In addition, a separate parallel panel will cover the works of students and the youngest adepts of physics, and this will be a great opportunity to leap into the joyful world of professional science. Also, a poster session will take place.
